Read Numbers 21:4-9.
In Book V, the sermon entitled, “Are You Afraid To Die in The Desert,” is a proclamation, in which we learned that our wilderness experience can be lonely and/or hopeless. We learned that while struggling against chaos, condemnation, and oppression, we counter the struggle to survive using our own capabilities and resources.
The wilderness or desert experience is a place that we thought we would die until we looked to the LORD our GOD – until we remembered JEHOVAH-JIRAH and “looked to the hills from [beyond those hills] whence come all of our help.” (Psalm 121:1) We then realized that GOD is present in the wilderness; and that we were reminded in the text what the LORD through Moses told the people. In the Bible, It tells the people to take three (3) positions: 1) Don’t be afraid; 2) stand firm; and 3) watch God.
When we were obedient to 1 – “not be afraid,” 2 – “stand firm,” and 3 – “watch God,” we were then instructed to “shut up.” In other words – “be still and know that I am God [God is God]!”
