Book VI, “A Change Is Coming!” – Excerpt – Text: Luke 3:15-17; 21-22 (NRSV)

Read Luke 3:15-17; 21-22

When you relate to and have a personal relationship with “the promise of the righteous branch,” you will be rescued, redeemed, and restored.  On the eve of the celebration of the birth of Jesus, Christian became clear about the state of birth of Jesus as provided in Book VI, Chapter 49, “The State of Birth,” and, how what seemed to be negative circumstances or conditions.  The actual state of birth illustrated the connected relationship with all God’s creation – humankind, animals, and earth.  The physical condition of Jesus did not affect his position – even as a baby – to bring people together who were committed, cooperative, and conciliatory.  Those are attributes that God desires in a relationship that is pregnant.

It is okay to be young & restless, because age matters (See chapter 43, “Young and Restless:  Age Matters”).  Jesus, a 12-year-old boy, taught us to retreat, reflect, and reconnect.  You should stop (retreat) look at tradition or our past; take some time to reflect on those things that you should keep and those things that we need to discard; and afterwards, reconnect, as the boy Jesus did, to your heritage, your people, your community, your family, and more importantly your God – who will direct you in all your ways to be about your Father’s business.

Also, it was in the Gospel of Luke that was learned that God gave those whom he chose to fulfill God’s purpose and will – Zechariah, Mary, and the shepherds on a hillside – those who were, perhaps, afraid of gossip, of reprisal, of scrutiny, of embarrassment, God gave them – assurance: “do not be afraid.”  That is “easier said than done!”

With the fulfillment of God’s promise – Jesus, the Messiah, the Christ, the Righteous Branch, Mary’s baby, you should proceed as the Apostle Paul says in Philippians 3:13b-14:

“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward
the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
