Ask, Seek, Knock

Prayer is an act that one petitions, praises, thanks and confesses to God.  A prayer can be for the person petitioning for self; the person interceding for others; and the person communing or talking and listening to God.   The model for followers of Christ is found in the New Testament of the Holy Bible, Matthew 6:9-13 or Luke 11:2-4.  The formula for praying comprises of Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication (ACTS).

Prayer is communicating or talking to the Higher Power, God, to intercede and/or intervene in living situations.   In Matthew 7:7, it says,

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you:” (King James Version)

“Ask, and it will be given to y ou; seek, and you will find;
knock, and it will be opened to you.” (New King James Version)

“Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened to you.” (New American Standard Bible)

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.”  (New International Version)

“Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find;
knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Revised Standard Version)

“Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find;
knock, and the door will be opened to you.” (Today’s English Version)

“Don’t bargain with God.  Be direct.  Ask for what you need.
This isn’t a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in.”
(The Message)

To Ask, Seek, and Knock is a process:  Ask for what is needed…..Seek self with reflections and retrospection….Knock with sincere contrition.  Move toward and engage in abundant living.
